I had no expectations when I bought this but am happy with the product. It wraps easily around my 12 inch mattress and has room for an extra inch or two if I want to add more padding to my mattress. While there's plenty of material to wrap around and under the mattress, the top stays nice and flat. It feels soft but isn't too plush. The back of the top has some kind of thin rubber(?) coating which I can confirm is enough to at least protect the mattress from light stains and dirt. Overall this finish appears to be very durable but I will update this review if I see any wear or damage over time and how long it took for that to happen. The material stretches a little. This is good if you have a soft mattress, as inelastic covers can affect the mattress's ability to absorb weight unevenly. (All shock absorbing pressure points, piece) The "cooling" effect is about as good as I'd expect from a fabric. It's there, but it's not impressive or anything. How well your mattress absorbs and distributes your body heat will be more important, but at least a mattress pad won't prevent your body heat from leaving you. (Isolating in other words) I think this product makes a big difference.
