Treat yourself to some quarantine fun!

Due to a pre-existing lung condition, I am in strict quarantine during this COVID-19 pandemic for my own safety. I'm in my room and bathroom and have the opportunity to step out the first floor window to get some air and toss the ball to my dog in the yard. As my only refuge, I found it uncomfortable to go indoors with bug bites, no matter how long my sleeves or hem were. So I bought these little zippers and tried them out tonight. Okay, ZAP isn't an exaggeration. When a mosquito hits its creator with this little device, it doesn't go away quietly on that peaceful night. I saw a small blue electrical spark when defeated. I think I was also making noise because my youngest (adult) son immediately put on a mask and went outside to see what was wrong with me. He's a slim, tall young man, so he got a bird's-eye view of his burly little mother, in slacks and a hooded flannel shirt (hooded and tied to keep bugs out), jumping around, brandishing a strange plastic bat. as high as possible to try and get the tiny vampires to head towards the porch light. I don't know how long he sat by my impromptu hobbit rave, but I finally got another one and he let out a startled squeak and then confessed. that he thought I was crazy and was fighting invaders from other dimensions that only I could see. In the meantime, I grabbed my second racquet (FTW double pack) and two-handedly pursued my winged prey, who possibly resembled a drunken air traffic controller, cackling happily as I went. I don't know how this quarantine will end or what the ultimate impact of the virus will be on my family. What I do know for sure is that tonight I had 30 minutes of childlike joy to share with my son in our first real laugh in weeks. And I killed some bugs. Worth every penny.
