Good price, limited resolution, poor customer service

I was trying to connect to an ultra wide (3440 x 1440) monitor. I was only able to get a lower resolution via the HDMI port. Using the digital display port resulted in a correct resolution but a flickering display. Called support, had to call multiple times to get to the right department and they couldn't share the collected data between departments which is quite inefficient. The final feedback was that the computer cannot work with this resolution without any suggestion to solve this problem other than to buy a new and better computer. I also contacted Asus via email and received a response that it was possible to run the requested resolution with a suggestion to update the BIOS and run Windows 10 recovery. Given the conflicting reports, I didn't try this and bought a graphics card (GPU). This computer is not available in standard sizes, you must order the "Low Profile" version. Also, performance is very limited and I couldn't find the extra power cable from the PSU that most graphics cards require. I ended up buying the GT1030 (buy one with DDR5 memory, same price and twice as fast as the DDR4 version) for $80 as they are very low power (no power cord required) and come in a slim form factor. It's a very cheap card so don't expect to use it for the latest games, but it displays 3440 x 1440 without any problems. My understanding is that the embedded chip needs to support that resolution, so I'm not sure what my problem was. Good score for the system, but -1 star for poor graphics performance and another -1 star for poor customer support.
