Bought for the iPhone 7 and used first as a general purpose 'case', then attached with a strap to keep it from falling out and breaking when I it does unsafe things. They're not designed for sports protection, but I wanted a little extra security. The straps, when they wrap around the front, cover the screen a little more than I wanted and are a bit annoying at the corners on one side. The top and bottom loops are of different lengths, so one side is more closed than the other. You can choose which ones to install. Over time, the ones I used would wear out and break, but not too quickly. Since they're under $10 for four of them, I agree they won't last forever. They hang a bit when put in a pocket, but I think any rubber holder will do that.
