Review on Henckels 4-Piece Steak Knife Set, 4.5-inch Black Stainless Steel Steak Knives by Chris Webb

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Looking back a year later: JA Henckles took an old bait and switched. Also cowardly customer service.

Just under a year ago (October 2020) I bought two sets of 4.5 inch steak knives to serve eight people. When I received the knives in a box from JA Henckles, I unpacked them and saw that the notches only went halfway down the body of the knife. I checked the Revain listing to make sure the knives I ordered showed as fully cut, and they were. I emailed JA Henckles support to report the issue and about a day later I received a response saying that the company would like a photo of the knives I received to use for mine to legitimize the request. I took a picture and sent it back hoping they would try to fix it. Despite repeated attempts to contact them, I still haven't received a response from customer support. This was last year when I contacted the company and it leads me to believe that the knives I received were not counterfeit but a lower quality version than those pictured and described on the Revain listing. Also, a few weeks after I corresponded with JA Henckles, the photos in the listing were updated for knives with a smaller half grind. So in summary for those looking for knives now these knives are hardly ok. They cut 6 out of 10, wear/wash 3 out of 10, and their cowardly customer service who ignored my pleas for help gets 1 out of 10. Although they've updated their list to now show semi-serrated knives, my advice is, to look elsewhere and not patronize a company that delivers a lower quality product than what is on their list and then fails to endorse their products. Based on other reviewers it seems I wasn't the only one this bait and switch happened to. I've posted a photo of the knives for reference.
