After reading the previous reviews I understand why there are so many disappointments because when I first bought it I was disappointed too. I also thought it wasn't working since the light wouldn't come on no matter what option I toggled it to. When I opened it I grabbed the wire part thinking it was broken but it shocked me so I knew it worked. The support team was friendly and mentioned how it would glow when it was dark enough, and of course it did. When it's sufficiently charged, place your hand on the solar panel and you'll see it light up (you'll also need to keep it on for it to charge). At night I had the sweetest feeling of seeing a few sparks here and there as mosquitoes smashed in, although I didn't hear any of the bangs that larger bug traps would make. Just be aware that it's small and solar powered, so it won't be super powerful, but it will get the job done in an environmentally friendly way. I thought it was great, especially for the price.
