Review on 🏎️ Enhanced Performance: TYC 13062 Chrysler Aluminum Replacement for Superior Quality and Durability by Michael Barrett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Would buy again if needed but hope not :)

Moderately easy installation for 2010 Chrysler Town & Country with 3.8 liter engine. The downside to the installation is a significant leak, which I allowed to flow into the coolant reservoir from a nicked fitting near the radiator cap. The loose connection was fixed simply by installing an inexpensive clamp. The buyer was not supposed to do this, but apparently the spike was a smaller diameter, resulting in a weaker connection than the previous radiator fitting. The design of the radiator is imperfect as it is not a solid part. The materials from which the components are made, in contrast to the materials, create a potential for failure at the junction of metal and plastic edges. The radiator I just replaced in the van had a leak in the top driver's side corner at the plastic/metal junction (other reviewers have cited similar cases) and my van clearly had a radiator replaced by the previous owner (who probably had a similar problem). I hope this cooler will last the rest of my possession and I won't have to change it again. Advantages: 1st price2. No large special tools are required (various pliers, 10mm socket wrench, screwdriver)3. The kit includes 2 rubber grommets already installed on the radiator base (WITHOUT CAP)4. Quality packaging 5. Moderately easy installation without having to remove the bumper on my vans: 1. DO NOT INCLUDE THE RADIATOR CAP!2. The nipple on the radiator cap is slightly smaller, which creates leaks and requires a simple clamp to stop spilling into the tank3. The disadvantage of the cooler design provides for a possible failure of the metal-plastic joints.

Pros
  • OE equivalent
Cons
  • poorly thought out
