I bought this for a trip to Peru and it worked well. This is not a power converter, but an adapter that allows devices that are compatible with 220 volt systems, i.e. Apple power supplies for iPhone and iPad, to work. I only gave 4 stars because the USB power failed after using it once or twice. I have had other 220 compatible USB power adapters that only had a US plug which I used with this adapter to make it work. The only caveat I have to offer is to make sure whatever you plug in will accept 110-220 volts or you will fry your US only (110 volt) devices.
