Physics Matters

This fan is without a doubt the best solution for increasing the controlled exhaust distance from the tumble dryer. Some very important things to remember. Follow the instructions. The distance to the dryer is crucial. I have found that the clearance from the dryer to this fan handle is better than the exhaust side of the fan. This is especially true in the cold season. The exhaust from this supercharger begins to cool and condense in the tube about 20 to 25 feet into the tube. This builds up and causes the unsupported pipe to sag and collect fluid, which in turn collects lint. By supporting the flexible hose and keeping it down at all times, I was able to prevent this from happening again. From the blower to the end (outside), my pipe stretches 40 feet and rotates about 110 degrees. The automatic shifter is finicky and, worse, slow to respond. Therefore, you have to wait while testing. Wait, come back and wait. After all, it has a success rate of about 99%. Once or twice I've found that it works by itself. I believe once it was the result of a power failure. It's very quiet and reliable, I haven't had a clogged fan and the dryer runs faster and clothes are hot and dry. Installing this and the "system" required a great deal of thought and planning, not to mention working in the cramped, inhospitable spaces outside the walls and under the house. I used a switchable GFI for safety, as well as to make it easier to service and reset if the pressure switch trips. I would recommend it to anyone with dryer issues, long mileage or constant exhaust clogging.

Pros
  • Highly recommended for homes with a dryer exhaust duct of 25 feet or more
Cons
  • Electrical outlet required
