Arcade1up replacement/upgrade

Due to joystick issues on my two Arcade1up machines, I installed one of these on two different Arcade1up machines (Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam). They feel similar to standard sticks, but there's definitely a difference in quality. The click is a little quieter and sounds less cheap than standard Arcade1up sticks. It comes as an 8-way configuration, but can be switched to 4-way if you're using it for Pac-Man or similar by adjusting the detent on the bottom of the joystick. It's pretty simple, but you'll have to remove the panel to access the underside of the joystick. MK. I put an octagonal gate on a Mortal Kombat machine and I love it. I plan on putting 4lb extension springs in the MK body and maybe 2lb springs in the NBA jam (just so it doesn't feel so cheap). . You need to remove the metal plate from the stock Arcade1up joystick and attach it to the new swan. That way the screw holes line up and you don't have to make a lot of new holes. Another thing is that this joystick comes with 5 pin connector and 8 wires are soldered in 1up. Here you can spend some money. extra time to figure it out. There are basically four switches/buttons under your joystick (up, down, left, right). In the standard configuration, each switch is connected to the control board with two wires (power and ground). To connect your new joystick, all you have to do is use the connector provided and connect 5 wires. You use the positive wire from each switch and connect it to one of the four colored wires on the connector. You can just use one of the old pads and connect it to the black wire of the connector that came with it. It was possible to solder the wires, but I just twisted and used heat shrink tubing and a hair dryer. Insulating tape works too. It may take a bit of trial and error to correct your directions if you're like me, but it was a lot easier the second time around. The Sanwa is roughly the same size as the Arcade1up sticks so the only fitting issues can be solved by orienting the stick so the 5 pin connector is out of the way. I'll try to add pictures when I make another one or when I make the feathers.
