Review on Enhance Your Smart Home with the Meross Smart Plug HomeKit Pack by Amicz Kakaruk

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Bought for Homekit support but connection was too unstable for actual use.

This is unreliable. My router only supports 2.4GHz, so cross-band issues aren't an issue. I ended up setting them all up on Homekit. Most took more than one try. The code attached to the plug is a hassle as you have to unplug it if it doesn't work so you can scan or read the code again. It would be nice to have a card with a list of codes/numbers to write down where you found them. It would be nice if HomeKit would remember the number even if the process didn't complete. I've found that the installation process works best when you enter numbers manually. Most of the time when I checked the status in HomeKit all four said "Not Responding". Seems to me if one or two of those don't work you could write it off as a broken device or bad wifi signal, but all four? Perhaps because they are cheaper, they are very sensitive to Wi-Fi signal degradation. I've had iPads and iPhones on my network for a long time with no problems and they work all over the house, so why is it so difficult to keep them online? I ended up removing them all because I got tired of crawling across my desk or moving a bookshelf to turn on the light. I decided to try one more device. I plugged it in next to the router. It seemed more reliable, but still it would say, "Not responding" from time to time. I clicked on it and it worked. I tried turning it on with Siri and it gave me a 'Not Responding' message. I'm in the next room with my iPhone and iPad and they're both still connected, so I guess as long as I put all four devices next to the router and don't use voice commands, I'm done. Firmware update works. Homekit will notify you and you can go to the Meross app and update it. This part worked great, but nothing has changed. One problem with this old house is that most of my outlets are in baseboards and mounted horizontally. Some of them are installed backwards, which makes it difficult to reach the button, especially when it is behind furniture. I learned a lot during this process, especially about what doesn't work. I will no longer use these, I will try other brands. I will especially look for brands with a button on the front rather than the top or side as that is the easiest to use. The price was great so I was hoping they would work because I was planning to buy a few of these, but I'm returning them as I don't have much need to manage devices besides my router.
