Description of Enhance Your Smart Home with the Meross Smart Plug HomeKit Pack

Remote Control: To enable HomeKit remote control, you need a HomePod, an Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD, or an iPad. Set any of these Apple devices in your house as a HomeKit bridge and connect it to your home Wi-Fi network. Keep in mind that once your HomeKit bridge is set up, it has to be kept online. If it is powered off or disconnected from the Wi-Fi, it will fail to respond when you intend to control the device remotely. Voice Control: You can control your devices hands free, just give voice commands to turn on/off the connected devices. Compatible with Apple HomeKit, Apple Watch, Siri, Carplay, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and SmartThings. Compact Size: Smart plug occupies only one socket, the device allows you to stack two mini smart plugs in the same outlet, which is convenient and practical. Schedule: You can schedule connected devices to turn on and off automatically by smart plugs. Save energy when lights are not needed or left on by accident. Sunrise and sunset setting are supported. Quality: Smart outlet is made of PC flame retardant material, and has been approved for safety and quality assurance. Certified by ETL and FCC, it supports home appliance up to 15A.

Works great - setup via the Home app

Just plug it in and launch the Home app. Then press the + button to add an accessory. Scan the QR code and it will be added in about a minute. I had one of four failed settings so I reset them by holding the power button for 10 seconds. Then everything went well. Once they are added, you can launch the Meross app and click + there to add devices to this app. Plugs should (if I remember correctly) show up in blue at the top as a device already connected to the network, so you don't have to…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Hard to say

Great smart outlet with HomeKit support

I bought smart outlets to replace the Wemo outlets. Meross outlets respond immediately. Of course, my Wemo is several years old, but there has always been a delay in the response. I really like the Meross app. I use it for Meross garage door controls, wall switches and outlets. I especially like the widget that allows quick access. There is no widget in the Wemo app. The Meross app widget still has the older pre-IOs 14 styling, but I like how it shows the on and off state of each device. This…

UPDATE: Working again with Apple HomeKit

UPDATE November 15, 2021: Working with HomeKit and Siri again. I don't know why they stopped or started working again. Luckily they've been working for a few months now so I'm leaving them alone. They all say they have an update available, but given the issues I'm having, I'm hesitant to update them. If I pick up the courage I'll try to update and edit my review again. UPDATE January 27, 2021: I bought 8 of these and all 8 stopped working with Apple HomeKit. They all work with the Meross app…

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Reading other reviews, I expected this smart switch would have issues on my network (I mixed 2.4/5GHz WiFi) or at least it would would have a bumpy road there setting it up. But to my surprise, that part of the Meross experience worked really well. Out of the box, into an outlet, scanned the QR code with my iPhone, added a name for the switch, and here we are - IT'S LIVE! Not seriously, it was so easy to get this thing working with HomeKit, the switch was almost instantaneous and I was very…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Works great so far (some tips on HomeKit problems in the test)

The pairing process was a bit stupid (easier just plug in the sockets and then connect to the ad hoc WiFi network from the device before you do something else). I now have these devices that work 100% reliably with both HomeKit and the Meross app. The low price, relatively compact size, and (now that they work) instant response via HomeKit make them a winner in my opinion. HomeKit problem and solution: Everything worked fine via the Meross app, but HomeKit status and control was very patchy…

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Not so nice packaging

Updated November 17, 2021 - Back to 5 stars. I was contacted by the support team and had numerous emails back and forth. They explained to me the reason for the reboot and the solution they found to fix the reboot. They released new firmware for the devices and made it available via OTA. Updated my units and reboots stopped. For the tech savvy, it was due to IPv6 and an older API in their firmware being rebooted. The newer firmware fixed this and I was able to get my mini devices up and running

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Obsolete model

This is unreliable. My router only supports 2.4GHz, so cross-band issues aren't an issue. I ended up setting them all up on Homekit. Most took more than one try. The code attached to the plug is a hassle as you have to unplug it if it doesn't work so you can scan or read the code again. It would be nice to have a card with a list of codes/numbers to write down where you found them. It would be nice if HomeKit would remember the number even if the process didn't complete. I've found that the…
