Reading other reviews, I expected this smart switch would have issues on my network (I mixed 2.4/5GHz WiFi) or at least it would would have a bumpy road there setting it up. But to my surprise, that part of the Meross experience worked really well. Out of the box, into an outlet, scanned the QR code with my iPhone, added a name for the switch, and here we are - IT'S LIVE! Not seriously, it was so easy to get this thing working with HomeKit, the switch was almost instantaneous and I was very optimistic. But over time and as I learned more about the product, I found some issues that forced me to return the product. At the moment I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE MESS110 MEROSS INTELLIGENT PLUG! I first discovered that some of my MSS110 smart plugs were behaving differently online than others for some reason. They communicated on port 80, showed an HTTP server website with details such as device UUID, MAC address and options to download a new WiFi SSID and password, change factory mode and download a new firmware image. Other devices (from the same box!) didn't do this, they simply dropped communications when connected to port 80. In general, the latter is the correct behavior for security reasons, but more importantly, it's very annoying. This is different behavior on the same product with the same firmware - yes I have checked that all devices have been updated to the latest firmware. -> I contacted Meross support about this issue and they still sent a replacement for the affected Smart Jacks, no clear reason was given as to how/why devices with the same firmware were behaving differently. While collecting and using all the smart sockets around the house, I encountered the following problem; I found that some lights stayed on slightly when plugged into the Meross MSS110 when this smart plug was in the OFF position. After some testing, I've found that these smart plugs let through a significant amount of voltage when off - and we're not talking small numbers. On average I see 17-19 volts on all MSS110s or 15% of your normal output. Enough to light up LEDs and interfere with other electronic devices when connected to this device. Now for comparison, all the other smart plugs and smart switches I have either pass nothing or under 1 volt which doesn't cause any problems. Even the Meross Outdoor Smart Plug (MSS620) works fine and there is only 0.8V in the socket when it is off. -> I also contacted Meross about this, they initially confirmed that this was not the case and offered, mine Replace products - although they do. Interesting that when I told them how many had this problem, the tone changed to "no, this is normal and not dangerous, you can use them". Finally, yes, I figured it out too. as many have written in their reviews. that these smart sockets don't stay plugged in all the time, sometimes go out briefly and then stop responding. Not the biggest problem, but terribly annoying. last thought; I wish it was a different experience, especially when I look back and think how well it started. But right now I don't trust products and quality control.
