Because dogs come in all shapes and sizes it is very difficult to get all clothing and accessories to fit perfectly. I relied on both the Blueberry size chart and my own experience with my Bichon and Maltese dogs for this Blueberry Holiday Hoodie. Depending on where you hold the beginning and end of the tape measure, there can be significant differences in determining the length. My Bichon, like many of her breed, has a long back and short legs. I have to be careful because if I just focus on the length of the back, I end up getting dresses that are so loose around her body that they can drag on the floor. She weighs 15 pounds, has a 13 inch neck and 18 inch girth, and an 18 inch back length measured from the top of her neck to the tip of her tail. This sweater suits her very well but as expected the back is a bit short due to her long body. It sits perfectly in the neck and chest area and does not restrict her movements in any way. That's a good size for her. My Maltese, who weighs barely 11 pounds, also has a 13 inch lower neck measurement. Her girth is 16.5 inches and her back length is almost 15 inches. She freezes easily and likes to wear cozy clothes. This holiday sweater fits her very well and although it is a bit loose in the chest area, it gives her good warmth and fits her perfectly. The sweater is made from soft acrylic jersey that's stretchy and not too bulky. One of the things that bothered me the most about ordering this sweater was the polyester binding on the hood. It doesn't stretch, but the hood of the size 14 sweater has a large 19 inch circumference. Both dogs were easily pulled over their heads. I have included photos showing how the size 14 sweater fits my two dogs. This is a very beautiful and well made sweater. I'm sure my dogs will love wearing it and the compliments they get on their holiday outfit. Disclosure: I was sent a free product to try and test.
