I was totally blown away by the sound of these headphones.

I was blown away by the sound of these headphones. I wouldn't say I'm a music lover, but I have a good ear. I am a hobby musician and music lover. I have several headphones and generally prefer Sennheiser. I have a pair of HD238, HD580, decent JBL headphones and for recording I use ATHM50x. I've been listening to a pair of Sony Bluetooth headphones that cost about $100 more than these - I don't remember the model number. A buddy of mine had a pair of Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Bluetooth phones that I liked (a few hundred bucks more than those AKGs). The only phones that I think objectively sound better than these are the HD580s. I had a frustrating experience with bluetooth audio. I'm not sure how they did it, but they're on par or even better than wired headphones, which are significantly more expensive. These are closed phones so the soundstage is small, but it doesn't feel cramped either. The sound isn't super flat and precise; in fact it is colored - especially in the bass range. They're a bit bass-heavy, but that doesn't bother. Bass frequencies are warm and focused. It sounds like there's a slight bulge in the upper mid/low frequencies - like a bit of presence has been added. The overall effect is a vibrant and inviting mix. They are never cloudy and the instruments dissolve easily. Listening is pure pleasure. They appear to be well made and the fit and finish is impressive. The clamping force is nominal. The pads are very soft and comfortable. They stay on my head when I move, but I can't walk with them. Anyway, I wouldn't do that to them - I feel like I'm treating them too harshly. I haven't worn them for more than an hour or two yet, but I haven't had any issues with fatigue. I'm curious how my ears feel after wearing them all day at work. I've found a few more phones that are up to the task. I should add that I charged them fully the first time I opened them. At first they didn't turn on. I feared the worst and thought it was DOA. However, pressing different buttons somehow woke them up, and I haven't had any issues since. I'm definitely very happy with them.
