This is not your typical disco light, it has a lot more displays outside of the traditional different colored circles floating around the room. They are more geometric looking designs with lines and dots of all the colors. I'm guessing there are three motor speeds, you can hear the motor louder the slower you go. If there is a party or music going on then you won't hear it at all so no worries. The remote control is really easy to figure out. I like the music options, #2 is my favorite as it doesn't strobe with the music but just changes the design to the beat. Unfortunately you can't charge this and it doesn't take batteries so it'll be difficult to take outside, but if you have a USB port available, this thing is pretty dang sweet.
