After almost a year he just died. I put new batteries in and nothing. To be fair it was in a busy kitchen area so it was doing a lot of unnecessary work (50 extra cycles a day) and I'm sure it was sent to its grave but for a year or so it was fantastic . I would consider a different option in a location with little traffic, but I replaced it with a less expensive manual drive. One thing I didn't like was the hole, it was too small to use in the kitchen which made it quite dirty. The motion detector worked very well, the lid opened and closed fairly quickly. I'm keeping a can of SS so it wasn't a total loss!
