I love this pump. Works great in my 150 gallon tank. Some people may complain that it's noisy, but it's not. The pump itself can make a lot of noise, but it's easy to deal with. If you decide to use such a pump in an aquarium system, you must first direct the exhaust air into the expansion tank and then suck in air from there. to your aeration stones etc. This eliminates 90% of the noise generated by the pumps. Another thing you need to do is plug the outlet on the back of the pump. I did this with a large screw and some caulk. A socket is not required. Also, this pump needs to run for a few days to break in, once it fails the total air volume will decrease slightly but still be within the rated range.
