Very soft rubber prevents damage to the steering wheel. The very soft rubber ensures "giveness" which makes working on the bike easier. The very soft rubber provides traction so once in place it doesn't accidentally go anywhere. Looks straight when installed. It's not necessarily the same. The rubber allows it to flex slightly and tilt toward you when pressure or weight is applied. To attach, hook on one side, hold the tray at a 90 degree angle to the steering wheel and wiggle it while working the center tab, and the other side attaches to the underside of the steering wheel. Works with right or reverse steering wheel. You can even mount it on top of the steering wheel.
