Review on Eviciv Portable Monitor: Touch Screen, Built-In Speakers, 7-Inch Display (1024X600), MDS-702 by Mitch Kalungi

Revainrating 4 out of 5

An unfortunate disappointment

When I first got this screen I really liked it. With all the extra cables to cover the connections needed for my RPi4b (and a few more I don't need) it worked great, with great colors, brightness and touchscreen response. I had legs, Pi assembled and everything connected in 20 minutes. (If you are familiar with the types of cable connections, this should be easy for you). I set this up using Octopi to send print jobs to my 3D printer. Some resolution settings had to be manually adjusted on the Pi and in Octoprint to match the screen's native resolution, but after I made the changes the screen looked great and the screen had no problem accepting a touch on the screen recognize wherever I tried. Here's the sad part. When using it I sometimes saw the screen flickering as if the image signal was dropping, at first I didn't see it that often but over time it seemed to increase in frequency. All connections were double/tripled and power was no problem when using the 45w USB power adapter. Fearing that this would become a permanent problem I decided to return it. I was speechless. I liked it a lot, except for the sporadic flashing. A few notes, the back is not in the case. It's safe to say that you just aren't immune. This is shown in the description photos if interested. Another thing - the legs are short. As mentioned in other reviews, it's a tight 90 degree bend at the end of the cable that powers the Raspberry, but still doable. I will buy a new screen but I will probably choose a different brand.
