Review on High Performance Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor: Height Adjustable, 240Hz, Full HD 1920X1080P - AW2518Hf by Shane Cohen

Amazing monitor: my review

I bought this monitor in late February for $279, an absolute bargain! I am very impressed with the design and image quality, couldn't be happier. I've actually never owned a gaming monitor, so this is my first time experiencing a high refresh rate. Once you switch the settings from the standard connection via HDMI @ 60Hz to 240Hz there is a noticeable difference in how the cursor moves across the screen and the colors seem more vibrant once I switch to 240Hz. It's very smooth and offers a great experience. The first time I encountered a problem was when using DisplayPort. One HUGE downside worth noting is that the I/O port on the back is almost useless as there is a raised piece of plastic just below the ports that makes it ALMOST impossible to plug in a DisplayPort cable, it actually seems ruled out . right/skewed because you can't make it flush and flat enough to plug in. Terrible design flaw, to be honest I don't know why this little piece. Not sure why I couldn't get the display to work with DP or whatever, but I couldn't get it to work with DisplayPort (it could also have been a bad cable). I had to use the HDMI cable that came with it and by default the monitor runs at 60Hz. You need to go into the display settings and set the refresh rate to 240Hz. Boom, done. Although Windows says it's actually running at 239Hz. I've heard that HDMI can't run at 240Hz, but it works, and if you set the refresh rate in Overwatch, it runs at 240Hz too.
