Just received and here are my first impressions. Pros: - Nice, heavy sole - Not all meshes are like everything these days, so baby's feet get less wet when they put them on on a rainy day. - Feels like it has decent padding inside - while the velcro closure feels nice. Cons: - The tongue doesn't "tank" like regular American sneakers. You know, it's like sticking your tongue in and out before the sides overlap, then tying your sneakers. They are designed with side flaps where the laces fuse to the top of the tongue and then the top tongue comes out. Doesn't look cool, just not the detail we're used to. They made the transition so my son wouldn't complain about it and the finger swiping doesn't seem that noticeable so I think they did a good job with the transition. I will update once my son gets a few weeks or a month of daily use in it. I'll see if the outsole, forefoot, heel and velcro survive. If he makes it to the 3 or 6 month mark I would give him a solid thumbs up. TBA folks.Update: 11/4/19 Well I was optimistic. The elastic strap on a shoe broke in less than 2 weeks. WTH. Changed from 4 stars to 1. Update: 11/9/19 ok, customer service was quick. The company refunded my money immediately with no problems. Maybe I just had a QC error and the elastic wasn't sewn on properly. Overall I'd say the sole and material was thicker than a lot of the ultralight junk sold in mainstream stores now. If it weren't for the rubber, the outsole and upper would likely outlive the Carter and Walmart champions of the past. I'm leaving the stars at around 2-3 because I'm wondering if this band hadn't broken would the others have lasted a month or so?
