I'm rummaging through the Clarity E814CC's answering machine and speaker. Pros: Glossy black finish Huge, easy-to-read buttons on the remote Cons: Poor audio quality from the main speaker and message recording. The basic phone is wired, not wireless. Details: My wife and I wanted the answering machine to be even louder and clearer than the one we have now because we know our hearing is gradually declining. Our previous remote phone/answering machine system is 11 years old. To our great surprise, today it sounds better than the new Clarity! The volume of the speaker in the Clarity base seems loud enough to be "clear", but the "quality" of the digitally recorded voice is muted, as is the speaker. It reminds me of the first answering machines in the early 1990s, which came onto the market without a cassette or microcassette but had digital voice recording. They sounded like a robot talking underwater. It's unacceptable that a 2018 phone system that costs $76 should sound so bad, especially when the 11-year-old Panasonic KX-TG6071 has better sound quality! I am 64 years old and have not lost my hearing yet. My wife and I can tell a big difference in sound quality between our old car and the Clarity.
