I knew the price was too high to be true but Fluval has never let me down so I bought this unit. It was very strong and noisy. After observing the stress of my badis for a week, I tried to modify them by taking them apart and turning off the power by adding pre-filter sponges to the outlet (to dissipate power. It was noisier back then (my fault because I I ended up throwing it away and opting for a sponge filter from Aquarium Co-op. At $8 it was a bargain and everyone was much happier. Fluval, shame on you engineering heads into the task of making a more functional one design unit.
