Don't expect this to work with an ethernet-over-powerline setup.

I bought this to see if it would work over ethernet over powerline as I don't want to take apart the walls to run a dedicated Cat6A cable to a second location on a different level of the house. I knew it would be a risk but I didn't see any reviews for such a setup so I decided to give it a try. This means everything is properly connected, as soon as the ethernet cable is plugged in from the HDMI extender to the powerline module that is plugged into the outlet, the HDMI extender turns itself off. When I unplug the ethernet cable from the powerline module, the HDMI extender turns back on. In short, the HDMI extender transmitter needs to be connected directly to the HDMI extender receiver, without any intermediate device like a powerline module. You need to look for another way to transmit the video and audio signal to another room. Wireless isn't an option as I've seen some terrible results. Too much data is transmitted over the wireless network, especially in 4K resolution.
