I bought these based on great reviews and was also influenced by the plastic trays in the picture. I wanted a lot of colours, a smooth lead and well-pigmented pencils. While I wasn't expecting art quality pencils, I was hoping for something a step above Crayolas (which sell for $11 for a pack of 100) or at least the same quality as my kids' crayons. While I received a wide range of colors, they were disappointing in all other areas. They came in a regular cardboard box rather than storage trays and while that's not a problem they are scratchy and dull and comparable in quality to the free box of crayons I was given in my wandering years. return. I asked my kids to try them and without even asking their opinion, one of them immediately said "They squeak when I paint" and the other "I prefer my own (Crayolas)". Some are creamier and better pigmented than others, but the vast majority are hard, brittle, spiky, and offer little pigment. The breakage of some pencils is so severe that some have shrunk to 3 inches in less than a day (this hasn't happened to many pencils, to be honest). I have no idea how others can rate them so highly unless I got a lemon. I contacted the company 2 days ago and asked to exchange it if they think I received a faulty one. Otherwise I have expressed a desire to return for a refund. They responded immediately, saying they were "concerned that conditions at Revain's fulfillment center may have affected the stems of your pens" and asked me to let them know if there were any signs of damage to the box or the pens . I immediately replied to their message, reporting that there was no sign of damage, but received no reply. Right now I'll never know if I got into a bad game; Having had no response from them and needing new colors ASAP I initiated a return process through Revain and this morning purchased 72 boxes of Prismacolor Premiers which sell for $25 for a box of 72. I don't like writing bad reviews. for products so cheap that I wonder if I'm out of luck, but I rely heavily on reviews before purchasing and think it's best to warn others about the quality issues I've experienced.
