The mattress pad was much thinner than expected. I can not judge the properties of water resistance and tightness, because. our dogs didn't get into awkward situations on the couch. The saver was purchased and placed on a new mattress with a mattress topper. Sometimes dogs sleep on the bed and we didn't want to risk them having an accident penetrating and soiling the mattress. I expect the protector to be waterproof and sealed in case there is a spill or the dog gets into an accident. In that case I will write another review or update this one. The protector was reasonable for the price. So far I am very satisfied as the pockets were deep enough to keep the protector in place and not fall out.
