Purchased to upgrade a Deore 2X10 system with a Shimano 11-36T cassette. The 2x10 system ensures very smooth shifting and quiet transmission. front chainring, rear derailleur, cables and multiple chains. Not wanting to upgrade to a 1X system and save on costs, I switched to an 11-42T which is a 10 speed cassette which is a Shimano product. I thought it would be as good as the 11-36T cassette. The 42T cassette isn't as smooth as the 36T cassette, you get more range but you might be disappointed with a loud pop or thump when downshifting and the chain falls and sits on the next lower ring. To update; Chain lube changed from white super dry wax to super gold rock 'n' roll, shifts are smoother and crisper. On my last trip I only had one ghost shift. Upgrade to 5 Star Buy.
