I drive a 2001 Ford Focus and have a common problem where the seal between the windshield and the plastic panels becomes brittle and no longer seals. As a result, water at the bottom of the windshield can run into the plastic shroud and straight into the cabin air filter, flooding the passenger floor (literally the dumbest design I've ever seen in my life). I replaced the weather strip with this butyl tape just in time for a rain shower and no more leaks! The "band" itself is a black stripe, semi-circular and thick. Almost like a thick black strand of liquorice. It was the perfect thickness to fill the gap between the windshield and the plastic panel. Finally, the tape itself is a bit sticky, but once it comes into contact with the glass, it becomes very sticky. I ended up saving a few hundred dollars by taking my car to a mechanic/dealer. Definitely recommend!
