Review on Nokia 6300 4G: Unlocked Dual SIM with WiFi Hotspot, Social Apps, Google Maps, and Assistant (White) by Adisorn Khamkon ᠌

There are pluses and minuses, think before you buy.

Display and peripherals The device is equipped with a good screen, the same as the entire modern range of HMD Global. They do not cause hostility, they are made, in my opinion, better than the old S40, but it is also impossible to say any laudatory words about it. The color of the picture is similar to the Nokia 3310, Nokia 5310 (2022), it is readable at an angle, but it is already difficult to see something in the bright sun. Both speakers in the device are mediocre. Missing a call will do, no more. The call quality is good. The interlocutor hears well, as well as the interlocutor. Perhaps there is some kind of noise reduction, maybe on the operator's side and VoLTE works. In general, the sound during a call is loud, there is no desire to set it to the maximum. The sound in the headphones is very mediocre, something plays well: there is not enough depth, pitch, volume, at maximum volume, and it will obviously not be enough in a noisy place, the instruments can turn into "porridge". It's the same for wireless connections. In the end, we got: a good case, modern technologies and applications, because. The OS is maintained and ated. But all this is implemented very poorly and very crookedly, I don’t know if anyone can really use KaiOS and this phone as the main one. There are a lot of features compared to S30+ devices, but it's hard to use on a daily basis. As an additional phone and a modem for distributing 4G - yes, you can, like a phone that you can take on a hike and it’s not a pity to lose it, but at the same time stay in touch a little bit - yes. But as the main phone, which is used 24/7, it is not worth it. It is really not bad, in comparison with the current model range of push-button devices, but in comparison with modern smartphones (incorrectly, of course) or models of the last decade (outdated. artificially somewhere: lack of applications and support, physically: memory sizes, page processing in the browser ) it’s hard for him, he falls short of functions and capabilities to some, to others the convenience of the OS and physical ergonomics. Everything is too mediocre in everything.

Pros
  • HMD Global continues to please the fans of the former Nokia by releasing Originals products: this time two models 6300 and 8000 were presented, which had mass love in their time. With the only caveat that the 8000 model is not an upgrade, but rather an attempt to make a premium phone. At one time, the consumer was very fond of the 6300 model, it can truly be called popular: a metal durable case, familiar to everyone S40, diodes for notifications. It is worth noting that everything has changed in comparison with the original model, only the name remains, but, probably, this is not bad. Looking ahead, I will say that the model has a definite chance of success, with some BUT. The quality of the material is good, but it cannot be said that it is the best, it is the same as in the 5310 (2022) model. By the way, the model 5310 (2022) in white has collected a lot of scratches on the display, covered with spots and behaved in a not very decent way, but we can definitely say that it is strong. The 6300 4G may not be a design genius, but it's pretty beat up and likely to withstand physical damage. We'll find out with time. Again, the matte plastic of the Lumia line would have been more appropriate, it behaves more decently in relation to scratches and wear. On the top side there is a power button and a 3.5 mm jack. The bottom edge has a connector for microUSB 2.0, there is nothing on the left and right. All edges are glossy, again a question of aesthetics. Back: Thin plate that should be handled with care not to break when opened, but better made than on the 5310 (2022), camera window and LED flash, main speaker. Front panel: earpiece, 2.4-inch QQVGA screen, navigation key, numeric keys, KaiOS OS keys. The keys are wide and quite comfortable, but it takes some time to get used to. The keyboard has a good backlight, the keys are comfortable for typing: large, have a good stroke and response. The phone can be comfortably used for typing and typing messages, but there is a snag in the OS, more on that below.
Cons
  • Platform I am not familiar with this operating system at all. Everything described below is my personal experience in comparison with Symbian. Both the one and the other OS were presented for push-button smartphones, it seems to me that this is a fair remark. Yes, I understand that Symbian has not been on the market for a long time, there are no programs for it, and applications were written there by certain efforts of programmers who thought, which, unfortunately, cannot be said about KaiOS. I don’t see the point in describing the operation of the entire system, I will only tell those points that touched me. Honestly, I did not like anything, absolutely. It's strange, I didn't think that it could be so, because each OS is unique, something in it is different. It turned out that KaiOS collected not the best in itself, but in extreme cases mediocre in itself. The implementation of the phone function in 6300 4G is poor: dialing may freeze, after the conversation is reset, the phone may again think and outline the interface. If you dial the number in numbers and press the call send key, then the choice of Sim1 or Sim2 will appear - but continue dialing with Sim1, for example, you need to use the menu key, and not the "phone". There is no logic. After exiting applications, it thinks on the desktop and draws the interface. He needs time. Case: close WhatsApp and dial a number to call - not as fast as we would like. I didn't see a recording of the conversation on my phone. After unlocking the phone, if you need to immediately call, when you press the key with the phone, the call log is loaded, the “green phone” logo of the download is displayed on the screen, then the search, rather twitchy, and the call through the two “phone” - “select” buttons. The melody for each sim can not be selected. The menu is also loaded with loads between items. As for typing: it won't be like before, remembering Symbian, we can say for sure. Combinations such as changing word variations, additional quick symbols and other Symbian charms did not come here. But again, these are completely different platforms.
