Frustration while drawing

I love shopping for art supplies and trying new products. The reviews for this set of colored pencils were raving. There were recommendations in crayon magazines and YouTube videos. The price was low enough to be tempting. This should be the first sign that all was not as it seemed. But I bought them anyway.1. Pigments are NOT lightfast. The test showed that they fade in the sun for several days. Especially the red ones that get out of hand with many brands.2. The smell when removing the plastic and opening the lid is disgusting. Smells like car paint. It takes days for the smell to dissipate. The color scheme seems impressive, but many of the colors seem so similar that they're redundant. The pens are numbered but the colors are not named (a condition I now see with many lower quality pens intended for the coloring book market). Therefore, it is not possible to know what base pigments are used to create the color. Even more confusing is that the color of the barrel doesn't always match the color of the lead.3. Wires snap and break easily. With many colors, so far mostly red and brown, the tips are weak and the tips simply break off after sharpening. This happens a little less often if you use an electric sharpener.4. The color saturation is not very good. I've tried pencils on different types of paper surfaces. I've found that pencils just don't add enough pigment to get really deep color saturation. (See photos for examples - four coats of medium to hard pressure were applied to the black areas.) Stumps. Blurs but doesn't dazzle.6. Many colors have streaks that distribute the pigment unevenly, regardless of the surface of the paper. (Magenta and red are particularly bad.) All in all, this is not a chalk for advanced and professional chalk artists. Good presentation, nice looking crayons but no saturation, ability to control color rendition and knowledge of pigment source so you can swap out and/or match other brands of crayons.
