My original case was from Apple for my iPad2 but it was worn out after 6 years of wearing. The Apple case was soft, that fintie, with a hard shell, but the inside of the flap that closes the screen is made of a soft, suede-like material, similar to the Apple case. Cutouts for buttons and inputs make the buttons easier to operate compared to an Apple case, but they also expose the buttons (like the volume control) to dust. I love how this case holds the device horizontally. In this mode, Apple's case was a little unstable, but Fintie uses a wider "fold" to support the device more fully and is less prone to falling backwards. The price is good too, as an Apple case is now $40-$50. We'll see how long the Fintie lasts, but it's a hard shell that should protect well and withstand impact; and for a reasonable period of time. I'll monitor the heater, but it also heats up inside the Apple case.
