I bought these for my 2003 Mercury Sable with a Duratec 3.0 liter DOHC engine. I've previously used the Revain and Google recommended one-piece Felpro lower manifold gasket set, but they found a leak and made a whining noise that caused the CEL to vacuum leak. The pads I originally removed from the car matched these exactly, so I'm not sure why it was ever recommended to put the one-piece pads back on. Installation Tip: Apply a small amount of dialectic grease to the lower manifold gaskets before installing them into the plastic manifold. This will keep them stuck during assembly and prevent them from falling into the engine. You can replace them (both upper and lower) without disconnecting the fuel rail as recommended in the service manual. Simply remove only the bolts in the lower manifold that go directly into the block, not the ones that attach the fuel rail to the lower plastic manifold. The fuel line rubber hose is loose enough to gently lift the lower manifold to replace the gaskets without damaging the fuel system. Just make sure you cover the intakes with a towel to prevent dirt or tools from getting into the engine and ruining your day. I completed the entire job in under an hour, using only basic hand tools and no outside help.
