When I received my shelf I was very excited, my closet was a total mess and I needed something to put it back in a great place. But when I first assembled it, I did it so quickly and only guessed how it was going to turn out. And I got angry! It was thin and wobbly and I was terribly disappointed. I took it apart because it wasn't holding together and threw it in a mess in my closet, thinking I'd pick it up again another day. I decided I should have listened to those negative product reviews about its durability. Then when I took the box that was going to be recycled I saw the photo and saw what a stupid mistake I had made assembling it, the clamps clamp the vertical bars not the horizontal ones! It is very clear from the pictures, not the instructions, that this is how you assemble the item. When assembled correctly it is very durable and holds all my clothes and items perfectly. I recommend IGNORE these negative reviews which are flimsy as the main complaint and know this shelf is perfect for closet organization.
