It took me a month to assemble all the missing parts to get it working. and they don't have Rapid Rail construction, which means you either have them on hand or, as in my case, order them and wait for them to arrive. B - Ears to mount this on a stand only. fasten with buttons on the side of the switch. With a 4 foot deep rack, that means I have to go more than 3 feet into the rack just to connect cables. In a dense server rack, I don't have room to leave a 4U of space to put my hands in to connect cables. I had to connect all the wires, slide the switch through the back of the rack and through the front, then put on the ears. This left extra cables dangling from the back of my rack until the rest of the servers arrived. C - The power adapter for the Switch doesn't require a standard PC power cord - it has these crazy little modules that snap into place to power up and can be plugged into an outlet in multiple countries by flipping the plug. My data center uses 208V power with C13/C14 power cords for all servers. I had to buy a converter to power the N5-15 plug as I don't have 110v in the racks. Also, the power cord slips out too easily and doesn't attach to a KVM switch or tray. D - All channels are numbered 1-8 or AH. I can't find a way to set a friendly name like the server name for each port. If I were StarTech I would make the following changes: 1- Use standard PC power cords for everything! No wall transformers or external power supplies! Make sure it consumes an input voltage of 110-250V2. Remove the power switch completely - always turn it on when power is present. Ideally, replace the buttons with just an on-screen display and menus for switching between machines.3 - Allow the user to place the rack mounting tabs towards the back of the rack so that the cables are closer to the back of the rack. server.4 - Ideally I would like to mount this on the back of a StarTech KVM tray and automatically pair to the tray without having to run cables between them.5 - Let the user name each channel instead of 1-8 and AH.
