Nothing cleanses skin faster than Nizoral. When you have a flake emergency, it's most often a yeast overgrowth, so you'll need to make your head inhospitable to those suckers by removing dead skin and oil and killing the fungus. Ketoconazole is what you use when you don't have time to mess around with Head & Shoulders, and indeed in extreme cases your doctor or dermatologist may prescribe Nizoral at a 2% dosage. But 1% helps with daily or weekly use if you're basically keeping things under control. I have found that it is best to apply before showering. Leave it on your scalp for 10 minutes before you shower, or just flush it down the drain before it can do anything. I have used Head & Shoulders, Head & Shoulders Clinical, Neutrogena T-Gel. and Neutrogena T-Sal, but I keep going back to Nizoral for reliable results.
