It took me some time to figure out this ruler because it has 1/4 inch on each side before the first inch and after the last inch. I might prefer to only have it on one side, but a 1/4 inch difference isn't much of a problem for me. Numbers start in the lower left corner from left to right and top to bottom. It would be nice if the other end moved in the opposite direction, but this ruler is perfect for me. Because I'm left-handed. It is very difficult to find a product that is so well designed for left handers. Once I figured out how to use this ruler, I suddenly realized how well it worked for me. If you are left-handed, you will like this ruler.
