The bag worked as expected - read reviews and recommendations for use before shipping

I really liked the bag. I was looking for a bag to send my son's bike on the plane as a family member was traveling across the country to visit him. Because it's cheaper than courier delivery, I was looking for a solution that wouldn't be too expensive. I've read reviews that suggested making a cardboard frame inside the bag and using different packaging materials to stabilize the overall structure of the bag. I used leftover bubble wrap, paper and styrofoam that I had salvaged from other packages and successfully boxed the bike. I made sure to cover the stem and seat with upside down little boxes and taped them with tape. I also used a piece of styrofoam under the shifter/pedal area and handlebar arms. Mainly to avoid breakdowns. I also removed the quick release wheel bolts and pedals as suggested and put the whole thing in a zip lock bag and then glued it to the frame. I then added some tape across the bag in two different directions just to give it more structure and also taped the handles together to keep them from snagging on the conveyor belts. Of course, I also included contact information in both the pocket and the front pocket. just in case. The bag weighed just under 50 pounds fully packed and was carried for the price of a second bag which was a bargain. The bike needed tuning anyway, as soon as my son gets the chance he will be taking the whole thing to a bike shop to have it put back together and tuned. In general, based on the requirements and cost minimization attempts, the solution worked exactly as it should. Very satisfied with those who have given advice and guidance in other reviews to achieve this without damaging the bike.

Pros
  • Easy to load --- Remove the front wheel and handlebars of the bike, then put the whole bike in the bag and zip it up.
Cons
  • The list will be long.
