I can't comment on other people's experiences with their sofas, but it was a pretty easy install. Tuck in the sofa very well, then tip over and fasten the elastic loops to the bottom of the sofa. I just got this today so I'll have to update it in a couple of weeks, make adjustments etc, but my kids have been on the couch a few times. The lid is already on. I love that I can still pull the rocker arm even though it's covered with a lid. It is a light, soft and very stretchy material that allows you to move very well. Remember two things: 1) It's a hair magnet. 2) The brown color is very peachy. like flesh-colored chalk. The photos I took don't illustrate this very well, but in the close-up I placed a ball of tan yarn (classic khaki brown) on the sofa cover. I hope you see the difference. This is honestly a deal breaker for me because I don't want to feel like I need a cover photo. I would recommend dark brown or even black - this hides the more obvious "sofa cover" look.
