Review on Monroe 33188 Monro Matic Shock Absorber by Doug Layman

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Terrible ride after 12,000 miles

I replaced the rear shock absorbers on a 2004 PT Cruiser. This is a simple job using only basic tools Anyone with a set of tools can do it. JUST DON'T USE THESE SHOCKS. The first 3,000 miles the ride was great, then it got progressively more difficult. After 12,000 km they had to be swapped out again. Give the extra money for shock absorbers Don't let the brand name fool you, I won't be back for any of my vehicles except for Monroe shocks.

Pros
  • 1/2" Piston Rod: Nitrocarburized rod for long life. Units only without dust cover
Cons
  • Reliability
