When my bookshelf stereo broke, I needed a new compact sound system for my bedroom. After overcoming my initial reluctance to join the 21st century and not worry about silly things like "CD players" and "radio tuners", I researched in circles trying to find a device that that works with my existing technology without getting too confusing. , and have a decent sound. Since most of the music I hear in this room is classical, folk, or traditional, I was wary of any speaker touting its "bass boost" abilities. I also have pretty good hearing so I avoided it at first as I was just learning about losses in Bluetooth technology, codecs and more and it seemed like there were other brands that were better at this. there was no need to worry; After my trusted audiophile friend recommended it AND a reputable review site ranked it above the competition, I took a chance. Here's what I found out. First, the volume of sound from this speaker is more than enough for a small bedroom. Sounds about the same as my previous 3 piece bookcase system. I tested the sound of my favorite piece of bombastic classical music via a Bluetooth connection. It was damn good and probably fine for my needs. However, given some other feedback, I went into the settings of the phone I was using to broadcast and chose a different equalizer setting. I didn't have to change much; the "Classic" preset on my phone was perfect and improved the sound noticeably. When I used the included aux cable, the sound got even better. If they didn't include an extra cable or connection, I'd be pretty happy with Bluetooth audio once I figured out the equalizer. Also, from a purely aesthetic point of view, I really appreciate the "analog" feel of this device. It has two dials and a toggle switch. No download app required and pairing with my Android and Apple devices was a breeze. This improved my old stereo sound as I could listen to a local classic station through their website without suffering from interference. If I decide to pull out my shiny silver discs and listen to a CD, all I have to do is buy a cheap CD player and an aux cable will do. Since it works with my iPod classic, I might not even need to do this. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a compact sound system.
