Know what you're getting yourself into.

I have done cross stitch and cross stitch kits for most of my life. I decided to try this much larger project to give to a friend. The blanket is of very good quality and seems to stand the test of time. The thread is enough to at least get you started (I'll update this review when I run out of thread). The needle is included, but be careful, it is hidden in the knot of the thread. If you've already done one of these projects, you generally don't need to read any further. I recommend it for you. If you're new to these blankets like me, you know what you're getting into. First, this isn't just a cross stitch project. This kit also requires you to master reverse stitch, satin stitch, running stitch and French knot. I think it's not difficult and they can be improvised or learned via YouTube. Beware. Even when the quilt is printed, it will be printed in one color (a pretty nasty navy blue). So you still have to use the instruction manual. It's only slightly easier than empty scores. In addition, the print is smeared in several places. This means you'll have to improvise the design to completely cover the print with stitches. I've posted photos to help potential buyers understand what I mean. Rather than returning the kit I'll try it out and update this post if necessary. I just think those new to these kits are advised to exercise some caution and make sure you have plenty of time as this is not going to be a quick project. While the design may seem simpler than some others, it's not. UPDATE 1: The instructions drew examples of the other stitches I mentioned above. They also say that the pressure is erased with washing. This is going to be very important as there are a lot more random smudges and dots of ink than I initially realized. I'll update again when I'm done and try to wash.
