He says this is a good gaming monitor, but in fact it's not designed for all games, just casual gaming.

This is a pretty good monitor. It's 2K, not 4K - sometimes the terms QHD and UHD are confused and can be confusing. The resolution is 2560 x 1440, sometimes referred to as 2K or Quad High Definition (QHD) because it has nearly four times the pixels of regular 1080HD. The design doesn't stand out - it's simple and not flashy like some of the newer monitor bodies. . It's lighter than previous generations at the same resolution and has a good range of controls to get the right image. The most notable issue is that this monitor has no speakers - it's just a monitor with no sound. This is where it sets itself apart from most of the competition, and at its current price of around $300 I would have expected some speakers, even if they weren't great quality given that many computers transmit audio over the same HDMI cable. It mentions that this is good for gaming and I would argue that this is subjective depending on what level of gaming you are expecting. With a 75Hz refresh rate, this is better than some older monitors, but 120Hz will be the standard for most games. AMD Freesync is fine if your graphics card is made by AMD, but the Freesync features will not work if you have an nVidia card. You can still use this with an nVidia graphics card, but you won't get adaptive framerate and you'll likely notice tearing if your game's graphics slow down during a graphics-intensive game. Basically, this means you'll notice it in games with lots of action and movement, but you won't notice much of a difference in simpler games without lots of high-end graphics settings. If you have AMD graphics, you're done. I haven't tested the DisplayPort input, but HDMI delivers a good picture with a good range of colors. The backlighting is noticeable at the edges in a darker room, but it's not too bad in a well-lit room. Whether this monitor is good depends on your goals. I would almost certainly rule out gaming of any kind simply because of the lack of speakers, meaning you'll have to buy something extra (an extra $) for the sound, be it a headset or a set of PC speakers. The monitor's physical characteristics of size and resolution make it a good choice for an office computer, as it gives you more workspace and allows you to display more windows on the screen. I cannot wholeheartedly recommend this monitor just because of the price. It's too expensive for use with the latest computers, where even the cheapest ones can easily output higher resolutions. And picture quality is good but doesn't justify the lack of sound and cost. Overall, this is a decent-quality monitor at a fairly high price, especially if it lacks sound, making it a poor choice for most games. It might be fine for watching HD movies and non-graphics-intensive office work on a large desktop, but there are better monitors out there for the price. At the current price of $300, I'd skip it if you can't find it on sale.
