UPDATED: I have upgraded this from 1 star to 3 stars. I contacted the company and let them know what happened. They assured me that all of their cables had been checked and that there might have been a foreign object/debris on the phone end of the cable that could have caused a short. They have sent a new telegram and seem very sincere in their messages, so I have no reason to doubt their statements. Even more impressive is that they sent a replacement even though we ordered them over 2.5 years ago. Although the cable melted, the explanation seems to be that it wasn't necessarily a cable congenital defect and the customer service was excellent, prompt and very responsive. PREVIOUS REVIEW: DO NOT BUY! I put it in my car and smelled melting plastic. I looked around and found that the end that goes into the phone is so hot it's melting and even melting the carpet in the car! It also made sense that my phone would stop charging with both this charger and the stock charger around the same time. I suspect it also got really hot when charging once and messed up the charging connection on my phone. I've read a lot of reviews on different chargers and I always thought people talking about things melting were exaggerating or that they did something wrong, but I correct myself.
