Just the same as all the other offshore made stuff. 3/4 HP, 5 amps? That is the input power! The output is what counts. These advertised 120vac 3/4 HP grinders are actually 1/2 HP output due to the actual efficiency of a/c motors, which at best are 65% efficient! Some of the manufacturers out there will honestly tell you that their 5-amp grinders are 1/2 HP. Those are the brands to buy from, et al., Metabo, Craftsman, Jet, and Baldor, label their 5 amp grinders as 1/2 HP. I use an old 1965 Craftsman 1/2 HP made by Delco. It is rock solid, and is 120 vac, 5 amps. Don't buy for looks!
