Great warm and light jacket!

I bought this as a protective coat to wear over basecoats when cycling under 50 degrees. It's a lot warmer than I expected! It's very thin but blocks the wind very well (haven't tried it in heavy rain or snow yet, but does a good job of protecting against light precipitation). It's fleece on the inside but not thick so I slipped it underneath on the first try and was very surprised that it was too warm. Over 38 degrees FI only wear a jersey for road cycling or I'm cooking, I've ridden in temperatures below 30 with a jersey and t-shirt underneath and it's been fine. I've been doing a slower rail trail ride on fat bikes in low 30 degree weather with a tank and thin long sleeve fleece underneath and it was perfectly comfortable. I bought the large men's jacket as someone who typically wears small or medium sized men's shirts so I have room for heavier layers, but this jacket is warm enough on its own and I would find it nice to wear under a medium. One small criticism I would like to make is that the back pockets on the sides are too small/wide so I don't feel comfortable putting much in. The middle one is a bit lower, so I only use it on the bike. I put my electronics in the side pockets for transport to and from the bike, but I wouldn't ride with anything in them. You could also add more reflective elements on the front and/or sleeves to make them more visible to oncoming traffic. I plan to iron on some of the reflective detailing on the sleeves.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Hard to say
