Very hot and did a good job. However, be careful when you take it out of the box. The blade's protective plastic fell off when I opened it and I impaled my thumb. It bled quite a bit. on my sink, my shirt, my countertops. Looks like there was a little massacre in my bathroom. My husband walked in thinking I had finally given in to my threats of our demon cat attacking the walls at random, growling and hissing. Until Fluffy McLucifer walked in and started licking up the blood that had dripped onto the floor. I don't recommend using this tool to harm an animal because it just isn't right. I highly recommend placing it in your underground bunker to use as a weapon in the event of a zombie apocalypse or President Trump's re-election.
