These grill scrapers are a lot better than the ones I bought at my local hardware store. They are: 1) larger 2) denser, with a smaller grit [the ones I bought locally had lots of air, with larger grit particles - they didn't last very long] 3) durable. Please note that if you are aggressive and apply too much pressure, they may scratch your surface. I cut mine into smaller pieces for easier handling and to get into crevices/corners and small spaces. I recommend moistening them during use. So far I have descaled porcelain sinks and toilets. Let's see how it performs on an old farmhouse sink and clawfoot tub. FYI, as the bricks wear down, tiny bits of sand can be washed into your plumbing system (some people may want to avoid this).
