Review on Trend DWS KIT All-Inclusive Sharpening Solution by Kevin Apriando

My kit arrived with most of the interior soaked in light oil based lapping fluid. The lid dangled in transit, a little less than half leaked. The oil had an odd effect on the plastic sleeves that contained the credit card-sized record and DVD, looking like they had been heat deformed. I cleaned up, found an old DVD holder and sharpened some tools. The flat side of the small half-round mini-taper file allows you to quickly update the main cutting edge and side teeth of Forstner bits with "teeth", even the smallest. If you have Forstner bits with a single curved edge, the round side of the tapered file quickly restores the sharp edge as well as the leading edge on any diagonal cutter. I had two old dull carbide 10 inch saw blades. The map plate quickly restored the teeth. I've only tested one of these blades and it seems to cut like new. I'm looking forward to fixing a bunch of old worn out carbide burs. I called Trend to discuss a lapping fluid leak. Their rep, Dave, apologized and said they redesigned the bottles (others had the same issue) and sent me a new bottle. Price. but i know that good diamond shims and single crystal diamond files don't come cheap. I appreciate the quick and polite resolution of my problem. The trend seems like a great device to work with. UPDATE - Well the package came from Trend and it contained a lot more than just a new bottle of lapping fluid. I told Dave that the spilled lapping fluid had ruined the little rubber/plastic card mat. He sent me two more. The new bottle of lapping fluid arrived with no leaks, and there was also an 18-ounce bottle of Trend Tool Cleaner for $11. Much better customer service than I expected! The only thing I have is the price of the kit. I found it quite expensive - $73 (what I paid for it on April 27th). I was shocked to see that Revain is now priced at $92, up 26% in just 18 days. As good as the products are and as good as the customer support is I have to say I will not be buying a kit again at this price point.
