I have 3 Radon monitors. RadonEye by Ecosense, Corentium Home by Airthings and Wave 2nd Gen by Airthings. Wave was the first monitor I bought about 11 months ago. I've had quite a bit of experience trying to mitigate radon from readings from this monitor, only to find that they're largely inaccurate. I've done extensive comparisons over the past 11 months. I ran some short term (48 hour) charcoal tests and compared the 48 hour averages I get from each radon monitor to the 48 hour charcoal test results. Both Airthings average 1-3 pci/L higher than the charcoal test values (both use the same sensor, so that makes sense). For example, instead of 2.8 I would see Airthings 4-5.0+. This is much higher than the standard +-5% or 10%. Airthings variance is specified in the Accuracy Specifications. This is a serious issue as I have based radon mitigation efforts on readings from Airthings monitors only to realize that I may have taken unnecessary action. Taking action based on readings from this thing has cost me a significant amount due to the cost of additional mitigations, test kits, and radon monitors. However, in February 2021, my shaft received a firmware update that appears to have reduced radon levels by 2.-3 pci/L in the last week since installation. Unfortunately, my Corentium Home cannot receive such an update, so it still shows higher readings than the updated Wave and RadonEye. All in all, I really wanted to like this product. The web panel and Airthings app are great and this attractive device suits my home well. In fact, it's just a wall-mounted smoke alarm. But in the end, all a Radon monitor really needs is accuracy. If it doesn't have accurate readings, it's useless. Hopefully the new firmware update fixed my Wave but after everything I've been through I can't recommend this or any other Airthings product. Check out the Ecosense products, my RadonEye has performed brilliantly since day one.
